I love the GE Double Drawer dishwasher! It is perfect for me because I love to cook and I can fit all my pots, pans and dishes in it. I fill it up while I™€™m cooking, and it cleans everything so well. It is also very convenient, and I love not having to bend over when I load the top drawer. For small loads, it is really efficient to be able to clean a small amount and not have to wait to fill it up. I highly recommend this product! On top of being very good at cleaning, I love the look of it!

Horrible piece of junk. After 2 years I broke. I had signed up for the extended warranty and after 2 months and 3 visits from 3 different technicians, the last guy said the dishwasher was broken and there was nothing he could do. So I spent +1,5K for the dishwasher, $300 for the extended warranty and now I need to buy a new one? DO NOT BUY THIS DISHWASHER!!

Good choice for a double drawer

I owned a Fisher & Paykel double drawer dishwasher for over 15 years. When we sold our house and bought a new one, we replaced the standard dishwasher with a double drawer. We chose the Cafe because all of the appliances in the kitchen we high end GE appliances. It does as good a job as the F&P for cleaning. I do miss control panel on the outside that let's me know where it is at in the cycle, but it does have an app that will tell that information

I've always wanted a two drawer dishwasher. I mean, no reason for dirty dishes to pile up in the sink when you've got a second dishwasher! The capacity is great and you can't hear it running. It washes completely and it's easy to start. I like it so much, I bought another one for our aux kitchen!

Trouble Shooting Mystery

Our Cafe double drawer dishwasher has quit working at just under 2 years old. Attempt to start cycle, door lock is heard, followed by.......nothing. Cycle never starts, times out and beeps. Different cycles attempted on both upper and lower drawers, circuit breaker reset several times without resolution. Ran through Fault Code display mode which revealed....nothing. All LEDs remained lit indicating no faults. Service Mode tests for all components passed. Last ditch, replaced Electronic control Board with same outcome. Dishwasher still does not start. Other reviews show service not to be much help, especially since the diagnostics appear to be very limited. Would not recommend, and plan to replace.

I love having two machines in one. The ability to have smaller loads is so convenient. My biggest complaint is it frequently leaves a white residue around the rim of the dishwasher and on any large items that lay flat to wash. I have utilized 3 detergents (2 types of pods and a liquid) they all leave the same white residue.

We really like the height of the top drawer for loading since we™€™re tall people. Since we don™€™t have a lot of dishes, the capacity size is perfect for us. We use pods for cleaning and everything looks great with no corrosion issues. We like the express cycle with the ultra dry and it does a great job. Noise is not an issue.

Operation Needs to Be a Bit More Straight Forward

Purchased machine in 2022 because of the double drawer feature. The machine works pretty well, but just about the most user un-friendly machine ever. GE has done a terrible job providing user information. The owner's manual leaves more questions than answers. Two days ago both machines malfunctioned while I was running at the same time. Top machine was beeping error code (you need to memorize what particular beeps mean) and bottom machine ran for 6 hours (I left and came home). Both machines were locked and would not open with the double knock to the right side of the doors. I had to turn off the breaker at my electrical panel. This did not re-set. Error code beeps and bottom machine running continued until my husband flipped the breaker 3 times consecutively. Finally a re-set. Now, after a day of problem solving we are stumped as both machines are showing Fault Display codes on the inside of the door. My helpful tip to customers is to look for the SERVICE INFORMATION paperwork that's tucked into the back of the machine. That's where we found the FAULT CODE information that is not provided in the user manual. There are 6 pages of FAULT CODES. At least the customer has a clue as to what the problem is before they have to call in a service team. GE should make more information available on-line. Also, if you set the Child Safety Lock you have to knock twice on the machine to open. Manual does a poor job of explaining that.

Most Un-intuitive Controls

Background: We had a Fisher and Paykel 2-drawer dishwasher for 22 years, and loved it, but a part failed and it was time to replace the machine. To that end we selected a Cafe 2-drawer in white, and were later delighted to learn that it is manufactured for GE Cafe by F&P. I'm an engineer. Between the Owner's Manual and the controls, successfully operating this new dishwasher is challenging even for me. My wife would never be able to figure this out on her own. I installed the SmartHQ app on my phone, and it at least gives status messages that inform what state the machine is in. (To complicate matters, we have a WiFi dead spot in the kitchen which I'll rectify with a wireless access point, but it's absurd that you need a smartphone app to successfully operate a dishwasher.) Albert Einstein once quipped, "Things should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler." More to the point, controls should be intuitive or deduce-able. The old F&P machine had a cycle selector and a start/stop button. What more is needed? We'll figure this out eventually. In the meantime, you need to produce and serve up a training video. I give it two stars. Great function, engineering, and manufacturing marred by poorly designed controls and inadequate documentation.

this diswasher is crappy in quality. only less than 2 yrs already not working properly. NOT draining all water out and now the board on top doesn't work so the entire nearly 2k is out the window. I thought Cafes are good brand but this dishwasher is poor in quality. To repair it will cost me as much as a NEW dishwasher from other brands like whirlpool or similar brands. I absolutely love the dishwasher. The flexibility of having two different drawers for smaller loads or mis matched sized loads is priceless. With the exception of a few moments in the cycle it is very quiet - start up has an audible sound (which I prefer because I like to make sure it is going) and there are a couple of points in the cycle where it switches over to a a different phase and there is some louder noise, but honestly, it isn't a source of annoyance for me. If I were to ding GE on anything, it would be installation... we received the until very quickly (in three days!) however, it took 4 weeks to get it working because the unit required a new mother board. Didn't even start on day one! Be aware that your installer can not help you if it doesn't work and GE support was a bit rude as I tried to get resolution. The DW is a new style and so there are some bugs and our repair man complained about it the entire time! LOL. However, all that being said, as of right now, it is by far my favorite DW I have ever owned and if it continues to run as it does now, will be what I use in my next home as well.

In my opinion, the one feature that could be improved upon is the system of grids for holding the dishes in place. It™€™s difficult, especially with bowls, mugs- pieces that are bulky. Also, the utensil basket/ gel pack can be challenging.

I honestly thought I was going to like the drawer but didn't really have a choice because it was what fit in my space. I feel like I waste a lot of space as the tines don't seem to fit my dishes right, so I end up not loading much in either drawer and it seems like I'm running it more often than a single door dishwasher. While I mostly rinse all the dishes before I load them there have been a couple of times where I've used the side shelves for longer utensils and they seem like they don't get as clean on both sides depending on how I lay them and usually end up hand washing them or rewashing with the next load. I've always used cascade so I don't think that is the issue. For the price I paid for the dishwasher I'm not overly impressed.

I hate to say this but, this by far the worst appliance I have purchased in forty years of appliance puchases. I will let you anwer simple questions. 1. Is it beautiful. 2. Ease of arranging dishes for cleaning, for complete cleaning. 3. Do the tines connect with ease. 4. After washing on a scale of 1 to 10 what did research tell sales. 5. If it was the best they've seen, what was it compared to. 6.How did someone at G.E. figure that one spray arm at the bottom was going to properly clean. 7. Does that not waste water, making sure hot water is available to the dishwasher at the time of washing. 8. Would you as a purchaser of a 1300. 00 dishwasher, cleans less effectively than a 1975 Whirlpool.Be satisfied by that. Once again, Beautiful, great intentions, washing engineeing and design. Quiet, cutlery does not drain well, skip Wi-Fi

Our home warranty company provided this as a warranty replacement for a Fisher and Paykel unit. Quiet! After the Normal cycle, cups and dishes are usually warm and dry, and the fan does not have to run to finish drying items. Like that the cups sit at an angle, which helps them to dry. Good capacity in the top draw. Concerns: Lower draw seems to have less capacity because it is shallower. Do not need or want Wi-Fi capability. Do not trust the Haier group with my electronic privacy. Items in the cutlery holder take a long time to drain. The underside of the handle retains water that drips onto the cutlery; make the underside sloped so that it drips dry. The bottom of the cutlery holder retains a lot of water; the bottom of each knife or fork is sitting in water after the Normal cycle. Want to be able to use dishwasher liquid, not just gel packs or powder.

Feb 12 This dw is crap. Does not dry dishes after being washed hours before. Hard to put tumbler bottles on rack without falling over. Leaves a powdery residue on plastic cups. This CAFE dishwasher is being returned along with all my other CAFE newly bought appliances. Dishwater should have an outside light indicating dishes are done.

This is the worst dishwasher we owned. Operating instructions how to start a cycle is extremely problematic. There should be ONE button to push to start a cycle. The pots cycle is extremely too long nearly 2 hours. Plus extra dry should be option on all cycles.

We're on our second dishwasher in 1.5 years, and we've had over 20 repair appointments on this unit alone. The unit keeps failing to drain. It'll feel up with inches of water and it takes an hour to get all of it out and clean it. We thought maybe the first one was just a lemon. I'd say since we moved into our house, we've spent more than half that time without a working dishwasher. Customer support and repairs have no clue what the issue is - they keep replacing the motor, drain pump and control panel, but nothing seems to resolve it. I've asked multiple times if we can just get a replacement model that's comparable in cost. They have no documented policy in writing that quantifies the number of repair attempts before you can get a new one (trust me, I've asked). Save your time, save your money, and get a different brand.

I would NEVER recommend buying this dishwasher. It certainly is stunning but after 3 years of use it no longer works and we can't seem to find anyone who can tell us what is wrong. This unit lacks diagnostic capability like other units; making it incredibly challenging for the repair team to determine what is wrong. After multiple attempts to get it working properly, the recommendation is now to replace all the units' wiring - making it more costly than a new unit. Customer Service has been just as challenging. Many reviews match our experience. This unit is not worth it.

Terrible experience with a lousy dishwasher

Terrible dishwasher. Please don™€™t waste your money. We have had nothing but issues since installation and they keep getting worse. I have not been able to use this dishwasher for 6 months, and have had two different GE repair teams tell me it™€™s unrepairable. The GE customer support group claims they don™€™t have these records and will only continue to send repair teams time and again, This has been a huge hassle and has been amazingly frustrating. Please don™€™t waste your time or money on this appliance.

This dishwasher is horrible. Way over priced and I would give the same review if it was $100. Plastic dish holders tht fall apart. Can™€™t use liquid detergent. Complete piece of crap. Doesn™€™t clean well and hard time fitting anything in the drawers. The engineers who designed should be fired.

Great looking, poor performance

We purchased this to match our other Cafe appliances. Although it is aesthetically pleasing, the functionality is not good. On several occasions, if the washer is opened during use, it will not restart. Other times it will continually beep every few minutes and I have to unplug it to make it stop. The bottom washer has begun to make a high pitch whining noise when in use. Additionally, the directions to adjust settings are extremely hard to follow. Now I'm looking to replace this washer with a traditional one from Cafe Appliances.

An ostensibly reliably appliance business recommended this over the more expensive manufacturer I had in mind. Shortly after the warranty expired (of course!) the unit began beeping six times when I tried to begin a cycle. It does this on both drawers (we hardly ever use the bottom drawer). Wish I'd went with my original instinct instead of following the appliance dealer's advice. Beginning to wonder whether that advice was based on lucrative service calls rather than reliability for the customer. :-(

Loading is a Challenge

This dishwasher is a challenge to load if you want to be efficient and use all the space. The side shelves should extend. The racks in the center are hard to fit anything except plates. In the end this dishwasher cleans and dries very efficiently.

Product doesn't drain, racks fall apart.

The dishwasher doesn't drain and you need to clean it out frequently or it gets gunk built up in the bottom. The racks keep falling apart and I'm constantly having to put them back in place frequently. The racks come apart and then get caught in the arm so the dishes don't get clean. I'm constantly having to put them back in the proper way. I would not recommend this product and have only had it less than 2 years and I'm going to replace it with a 1 door dishwasher.

The first unit we got leaked on the first load and we had to stop the washing. Fred™€™s appliance sent a repairman to fix it and we waited two weeks for the parts. The repairman came again, installed the new parts and it didn™€™t solve the problem . Asked for a new unit and just installed it.
